Shed Gone with the Wind

Hi

My hubbie has just phoned to say our shed at the lotty has been blown over. Does not seem to be any damage just fall over on its side, perhaps its been drinking.

So when I finish work at lunchtime I am going to sort it out.


Hope everyone else sheds are behaving.

Poor you. I had a sleepless night worrying about our shed havent yet plucked up the courage to go and look it will have to wait for the weekend. Hope you manage to get it back on its feet

Our inherited 'shed' thats rotting away quietly in the corner of the plot is fine, fortunately, but we lost 15 panes of glass from the greenhouse! Guess we are going to be cutting the clear acrylic Mr D skip-dived from his work to fit the greenhouse this weekend!

My little shed had moved a few inches but nothing that can't be pushed back. There were two other sheds on the site last night one which appeared to have just lifted completely and landed a next to where it should have been, and then the other one, a large shed, but now in completely separate panels plastered to the site fence.
I rang and left a message on the Chairmans mobile so hopefully he was able to ring and tell the owners. DDL

Sheds Ahoy!!!

Our allotments are bordered by a railway line, a nature reserve, the M1 motorway and the village cricket pitch. Its always a windy site at the best of times as we are down in a dip with the motorway and the railway looming above us.

My shed ended up being blow several yards to the back of my plot underneath the railway embankment. To my amazement it was completely in tact, window and all. Even the contents was in tact, not one single thing broken.

With the help of some fellow allotmenteers we managed to right it back onto its base as good as new. A quick tidy up and you'd never know!

Isn't nature marvellous!!

Hi,

My shed stayed in tact, but 30ft of picket fence was blown over! I spent the weekend replacing the fence posts and putting the fence back up. Hooray for Dads and their sledgehammers and electric drills!! It was still a tough job to do in the rain and hailstones though.

I thought having an allotment would be about growing fruit and veg

Forgot to provide an update.

Shed had just been blown completely on its side, no damage to shed or its contents. The roof was slightly damaged but it was going to be repaired before the shed went over.

The only damage was to our bean area the shed flatten one of the posts in the process ripping the net.

Glad it wasn't too bad then- at least you know it's well put together!! Just need a few guy ropes for next time it gets windy!!

me and number one son have just been to our plot first time in (2 and a half months) and the shed is still there amazing really when it took me 3 tries to put up a curtain rail and it fell down each time
the only thing missing was an old barrow and some ground fabric which was in the trees
pretty lucky really as the lady at the top of the site hadher 30ft wodden greenhouse smashed to matchsticks y the wind (bearing in mind its been up since thelate 70's) ithink shes gonna buy a tunnel now

the shed on my lotty bllew over and landed in my neighbours leeks (luckily no real damage to his crop) and the one at home lost its roof, quite a week sorting it all out!! the only problem was that i had carefully sorted out all my spuds for chitting and now they're all mixed up!
