Almost exactly the same 2 plot story here. 1st one is about 200 sq yards (although I extended it a bit maybe by 25 sq yards some years ago by reclaiming an over grown bank at the back)

My second one is a good 300. This will be my 3rd season on there...inherited it with managers' 'job'.

Mind you we are a small rather posh village where everyone has a private garden. when I started up there there were just 4 tenants......'how much land do you want lad?'....I just took a friends that left the village (they had alpacas so had been larding it with poo and relatively it wasn't too overgrown.)

About 18 tenants now ... They are mostly about 240 sq yards but quite a few have 1/2 plots. Believe it or not I have a few spare plots this year. one of the few site in the country I imagine. I normally Mypex any spare land and we grow pumpkins for the kids...this year though a neighbour has an outside socket and fancy new electric fence to keep off the badgers - so we are proposing a communal sweetcorn patch.

I barter with the pub and village shop while various old folk and friends get any gluts. Although I was given a vacpac machine which is just brilliant for freezing stuff so pretty self sufficient.

A group of business men are trying to buy it from the Parish council (I think I have that right) to extend their shooting rights

What sort? grouse or pheasant/partridge?...more far sited for the council to lease the shooting rights in season. Can't see a bit of minimal peat extraction and a few sheep will conflict much.

Perhaps that is construed as the council running a business.

Paul; there is no way on earth that each person in the country can have a full sized allotment. Is there?

Seems that mine is slightly bigger than a plot but it is one of the largest on the site (and one of the few that never floods too which is even better)

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

TWO PLOTS .......TWO PLOT!!!!!!! ARE YOU LOT WINDING ME UP

I've sent my letter back asking if I would like a live stock plot or garden plot. then phoned the council up to find out about the size of plots. I've been told they are looking to put about 40 plots on the site live stock plots will be bigger, but they can't give a plot size yet until they get all the confirmation letters back in?

the letter is not an offer of a plot its do you want to go on the waiting list for a plot!!

this is the second time these letter have been sent out the first time it was done without taking into account the existing waiting list for other plots in the area .when I first found out about the site I was told that all the plots had been allocated
I've been driving past the site every day for years and very little has been done other than putting a fence around the site about three years ago . the site is covered in brambles so there's very little to look at and no plot have been marked out yet.
thanks paul for working out the number of plot 30
the council have had the opportunity to do things right and make the first allotment site in the area .they are squeezing 40 plots on this site . whats in a name about ten more plots !!
