Nice to here you have a new allotment.
We just recently got one too for the first time, and like yours ours was really overgrown, with terrible clay soil. When we first saw ours in December we thought we wouldn't be planting this year. We managed to clear the whole plot and with a bit of hard work we have now dug over and manured it too. Some of our paths our laid and fruit bushes planted. Its amazing what you can get done once you start. Good luck with your allotment and dont listen to some of the horror stories you may here about allotments that have taken years to get on top of. Admittedly we have put in a few hours and there are two of us but we have managed to get a 100ftX20ft plot sorted for planting in two months!
