        Thanks very much,

its only a little plot 97sqm and not in the best position really, really tall poplar trees at the back which cast shade until late morning. They are supposed to be thinning them out this year but it depends on budget. The council are splitting all the plots up from now on which I was really dissapointed about. I have agreed with the letting officer that she will not let the other half of my plot yet and if she thinks Im coping will let me have the full plot. Ive already got a veg patch at home so Im sure Ill be fine with the full 194 sq m but she wouldnt give in to my charm and I didnt want to get on her bad side by pushing it too far!

I could have had a better plot aspect wise on the opposite side which is in full sun all day more or less but strangely they were really water logged, at least a foot in some places, it was terrible. Not all of them are like that on that side, its a shame, as if you knew what you were doing to sort it out it would have been a great spot. Bit too advanced for me though!

It astounded me though today, given the waiting lists, that although five people were supposed to turn up, only two did, myself and another couple. The letting officer said it happens all the time. She had another letting session in November and only one person turned up. Good for me though otherwise she wouldnt have agreed to holding off renting the other half of my plot.

I always explain to new tenants once on site when we let out the next available plot/plots we always ask if anyone wants to move bfore we contact people on the waiting lists. So even if you take on a small plot you might be able to move to a larger plot later.

Forgot to say say that we have two plots vacant as so far I've contacted people on the list and it's actually no 12 and no 14who is viewing the plots in the morning due to incorrect contact info, non response or that people have changed their minds or now have a plot somewhere else

There's a lot of difference though between extending the half plot you have to a full plot, thereby keeping all the hard worked area and moving wholesale to a larger plot and having to start again. When I was offered my plot I was just told where it was and to have a look. I could either take it all or half and decided to go for the whole plot but only worked half of it the first year. Am hoping that by the end of this year it will be all up and running in its basic form. The thought of working so hard on the top end and then having to give that up if I wanted a bigger plot would be heart breaking.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I agree but with the limited availability of plots If someone is next on the list and turns down an available small plot to wait for a larger one I have to explain that in prevous years we've not had anyone give up so even being top of the list could be another year or more wait.

Fair point but still a shame
