I have just compost heaps at the lottie but both at home. The compost heap is at the bottom of the garden whereas the wormery is right by the back door which is handy when it's raining. Also, I like to be able to use the worm compost in certain circumstances. To be honest if I could just have one it'd be the heap and I'm not sure the wormery would work that well at the lottie as I tend to add kitchen scraps in small and regular amounts but I do find it very handy by the back door. Also do bokashi at home which is brilliant in a bean trench.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
I have my wormery at the back door too and compost bins at the bottom of the garden. The good thing about the wormery is that you can add cooked foods to it whereas in a compost bin, you risk attracting rats. I put most of my kitchen waste for this reason in my wormery. Also my wormery has a tap to release the liquid produced through worm composting which I then dilute to use as plant/veg feed. The worm compost is very rich in nutrients so can be used to mix in with other compost to further enrich it.
The juice that comes from the bottom of a wormery is as far as i can see is just about the best fertilizer that you can use i have never been able to run a wormery but i have a close neighbour that suplies me with a botle of juice when she has a surplus...jacob
