polytunnel

Hi all
I purchased 8 polytunnels from poundshop. Now am wondering what can I start growing early in these tunnels? Spinach maybe or beetroot/carrots/parsnips maybe. What would u suggest. Also does one cover off both ends of the tunnel and if so with what. Any tips would be handy

no, not cloches....tunnels made of (cheap) plastic and hoops.

If they are about 12" high then they are cloches. A polytunnel usually means a plastic greenhouse you can walk into.

If it is a plastic cloche then you can use it to warm up the soil and sow carrots, radish, spinach.

you are right, they r tunnel cloches...sorry for getting terminology mixed up!!!

TBH, I called the tunnel cloches "poly tunnels" before I bothered to look it up.
My research suggests they can be called either really. But £1 sounds pretty cheap to me.

Yes, they r.....so the question is then what can I now grow early in these cloches ? any thoughts?

Maybe put them over some strawberries to try and encourage an earlier crop?

I always get loads of these a) because the pound shops always sell out quickly and b) they don't last long but for a £, I'm not that bothered.

Usually, they just go over crops to warm the ground up and help get things going a bit quicker but they also double up as protection against the pigeons that have already got the over winter cauli's.
