Put a location in your profile .. then hire the turf stripper I say and depending on your finances/urgency a couple of young (preferably) polish lads.
Then start at one end and dig to the other..removing any roots..you'll make friends with the local feathered population as you'll turn up loads of leatherjackets, chaffers and wireworm.
Then get a 15 cuM lorry of Mushoom compost and mulch the lot.
It ain't rocket science as they say...just hard work.
