  • We're so Happy!!!

    We're so happy!!!

We are proud owners of a new allotment, closer to home. We used to do a 22 mile round trip, to tend to our veg, now we are just 1.5 miles away – a cycle ride!.

The plot is 6 x 18 meters or 18ft x 61ft, which comes with an established rhubarb bed (which I've already harvested from), blackcurrant bushes, and a plum tree. We've added loganberry, gooseberry, and raspberry canes to the fruit bed. We was also left a sturdy shed, which was better than the other one!

At the moment me and the OH are turning the ground over, to break up the hard surface. The soil isn't too bad, some places have heavy clay, whilst most in very good condition. When we went to view the plot, there were a couple of areas, which seemed waterlogged, now since it has been dry, it has all gone. All of our potatoes have now gone in, and we'll be planting onions and garlic today.

So goodbye to those pesky badgers and horrible weeds, and hello to our happy home!

yeah, a 30 min walk, but it's easier to carry lots of gear on a bike: I can get 3 bags of veggies on the back of mine - and I'm thinking about fitting front panniers too

Congratulations! Our lottie is a similar distance, but with a two year old and a nine month old, it can take a whole month to get there...

You've not seen me riding a bike. I'd be safer walking and pushing it.

Even with digging the plot today, it was A 20 Min walk back home , instead of a 20 Min drive! Love the walk it's really green, and walking gives you time to hear the birds sing, and see if there is anything worth foraging!
