For the time being I guess I should, I have already made a (very small) start on it and all my sheds, tools etc are there - but as soon as Henlow has a plot with my name on it I shall hand the other one back

just a thought, not sure about the possibility but how about some kind of toilet block/shed if you are encouraging a communal bbq area it might be good thing to have.

Have either of you got John Seymour's Self Sufficiency book? There's a good plan of 'an' allotment in there. Not a whole site plan though if that's what you were meaning...

If it's the whole site you need to plan, then I guess the sun will have to be the main deciding factor for layout. You want it to be as easy as possible for people to set their beds out so that they get the sun on both sides. Mine are both a pain in the bum - I'd have to have my beds diagonally across the plot to get them the right way round Once you've worked that out, you want the orchard-y bit where it won't cast any shade on anyone's plot (and there's no reason why hazel couldn't go along the edge of that bit?) then you'd want any BBQ/Seating/communal shed/communal water supply to be about central I guess?

                Wow, what a fantastic project!
Surely you can get some funding from welfare, they always seem to have plenty of cash to splash?
Could you get the lads doing some digging and stuff as team building/ PT that sort of thing.
Have a big party to launch it with BBQ and bouncy castle (every station has one!).
Imagination is everything, it is a preview of what is to become.

Last night TBK and I thrashed some words around for the 'company' intranet - TBK loaded them this morning, we are currently (at time of typing) standing at seven interested parties and a Piskie

Do you get dibs on a 'larger' plot?

Will bring my 30m tape measure to work tomorrow... rough pacing gives us 65m x 50m to play with. But I haven't had my pace calibrated for a while!

"The Skies the Limit" could be an apt name

                                Hi all,

Below are the photos of the site I promised. The first photo is at the southern end, pointing north towards the childcare centre behind the fence.

The third photo is from the far left hand edge of the wooden fence looking the other way (if that makes sense!)
