  • Cheap sheds

Can anyone advise as to a website/mailorder company that is good for cheap sheds, please?

If possible, they'd be in East Anglia, since I don't want to cause unnecessary "shed miles".

If only supermarkets (I buy all the produce I can't grow from a farmshop) understood the meaning of "food miles".

    B & Q

B & Q use to do a cheap shed but the quality wasn't great. Have you checked ebay? Suprisingly you can get a good deal off here.

      cheap shed

I have spent many happy hours researching this subject.
B&Q do a 6x4 for £99 - a bit flimsy but cheaper than buying the wood to build one. Make sure they give you the bearers for under the floor - essential for prolonging life. And treat the underside of the floor before erecting it.
Inspecting the one on display in the shop on Sunday I reckon it will be OK for me - I can always strengthen it a bit using scrap wood.

There is no sutch thing as a cheap shed. I got one dommaged from B&Q thinking it was a good buy. Ive spent more money trying to repair it it needed a new floor because it was wrotten , I had to buy new wood for the roof, roof felt and the opening window and perspecs where all missing . It cos £150 in stead od £300 but its going to end up costing more than a new one.

        Good Luck,
Try your local free papers or put a wanted add at your local shop. It works most of the time and people are happy to give them away if you dismantle and take it away.

        Cheers

            Janeylass,

We've just bought a lean to greenhouse from Norfolk Greenhouses www.norfolk-greenhouses.co.uk. Been searching everywhere for one and thought their prices were very reasonable compared to everywhere else. They do sheds too so it might be worth a look, although they seem to be mainly galvanised, so no good if you were after a wooden one.

            Hope this helps,

            Lorna.

Always go for quality, I made a major mistake with a lean to greenhouse, it cost me £120, was polyvinyl and aluminium and ended up being sent back, it was so flimsy. I then invested in a upright coldframe instead (due to lack of space), which cost me £80, made out of wood and polyvinyl sheets, though not great, it was easy to erect and easy to maintain. Next time, I'm going to build my own.

Argos does some wonderful sheds. I have a half size one as well as a tall and thin one. Both have proved very strong and hardwearing. One is now seven years old and looks as good as the day I first put it together. Large items like sheds are only available for home delivery and most areas in the UK have an Argos so the miles a shed would travel from them would be rather less than most.

Gardeners World mag had a feature in the June issue where they had a tiny shed for about £60. 5ft x 2ft x 1.5ft i think. Seemed good enough to store fork & spade. COuldnt find it on the B&Q website though???

                    shed

I've got a £99 B&Q job. Now 20% off I believe. It's made of balsa wood but if you've got some scrap wood you can strengthen it.
Alternatively I noticed a Yardmaster metal shed for sale in my local free paper for £75. So if you've got the time and the transport that's probably the cheapest way.
having said that, all the people on my allotment site build massive sheds from all sorts of old junk. So if you've got a bit of building skill - you're onto a winner.
