Can any one heelp me here? i planted two apple tree's a couple of year ago, this year they are bearing fruit for the first time. The apples get to the size of a tomato then fall off,it is heartbreaking.
Steve.
Apples tend to do that at this time of year - it is known as the June drop (although it usually happens in July), when apple trees shed small fruit that they aren't able to carry to maturity. Also your trees are very young, and it has been very hot and dry. As your trees mature they will be capable of carrying a good crop. Don't lose heart.
