    I have access to large quantities of horse poo, has anybody experience of growing on hot beds ?

    Nick the Grief is probably the best one to advise, he's mentioned it a fair few times, tho not sure if he does it himself! I'm sure he'll be along shortly with some info for you!

        Not personally, but Victorian kitchen gardeners used to use them with excellent results. Nearest I have done is grown courgettes/pumpkins planted direct into a compost heap. Did really well

            My dad used to make a "open compost bin" out of wood with solid sides ( no air gaps) and stack the muuck up in that and then give it a 6" -12" covering of soil then put a coldframe or Barn cloche on the top & sow under this once the temperature had settled down ( tell tale stick pushed in the muck and when you felt it it was warm not Hot).

            If he wanted a Mild hot bead he used to stak the muck in the open ( no wooden sides) and that way it wouldn't get so hot.
