    Thank you all for your wonderful advice, so many great ideas that the 44yds doesn't seem half so scary now. Lots to think about and will try and post some pics once we take over the plot.

        Hey, I found a shed on my allotment!

        Well, here are two pics of the allotment I took over on 1st April. Lots of work to do, but delighted to have found a shed in the hedge (yes, it's there in the photo if you look hard.

        I've put down two straw bale beds to grow some squash, beans and other easy stuff on over the summer with the idea of mulching over a few of the weeds and mowing the rest of the area until I can put additional beds in. I'm under no illusion - getting this plot under control will take some time, but already getting attached to the place.

        Harvested two 'individual' size cauli's from plants left by the previous tenant - a delicious bonus.
