pelleted chicken manure

Does anyone know if you can use the pelleted chicken manure you can buy as a compost activator and if so does it help to speed up the process? I have my own chooks and put all their droppings onto my heaps and in return I do get lovely compost and quite quickly. My friends heap is very similar to mine in composition apart from the chicken poo and hers takes forever to compost bdown and I was wondering if adding some pellets would have the same effect as my chook poo?

Hi Helen, I think it does work to some extent, I throw the odd handful of chicken manure pellets into my 'dalek' compost bins along with the odd spadeful of soil/used compost to try & speed it up a bit & think it helps.
