Hi All,
I would appreciate some constructive advice on this subject please. Due to our usual supplies of FYM being contaminated with aminopyralid last year our allotment society has decided not to supply it any more. I don't really have a way of getting hold of any amount a a reasonable price so I'm considering using mushroom compost as a soil conditioner which I will apply to my legume break because of the lime it contains. However, I think my soil still requires "manure" for the potatoes so I'm thinking of using chicken manure pellets in the bottom of the trenches. However, I'm now being warned that the pellets are high nitrogen and the spuds need high potash but I have always used manure on my potatoes (which contained chicken manure) due to almost books/advice saying to manure your potato plot. What do others think about this? I still think I should use the pellets but I'm worried my spuds will suffer.
