got the phone call ive been waiting for this morning that a plot has become available.
its 5 minutes up the road and ready for me now.
ive just meet the bloke up there to have a look and sign it over to me.
the sheds staying and theres also some odd tools and stuff that needs sorting out.apparently the old tennant got evicted!!
so ive got a bit of work to do to get the ground ready for spring as its in a bit of a mess but my good old dads going to give me a hand...i think hes after something.
and the best bit is its only £8 p/a

Call me paranoid if you like, but watch out in case the ex-tenant comes back for his stuff.

i meet the ex tennent the other day.hes a lovely old fellow who unfortunatly due to ill health hasnt been up there for ages and it got in to a right old mess.
but whatever was left in the shed tool wise plus the shed he said was staying and i could have.

sorry for the late reply back as ive been away over christmas and been trying to sort out the allotment plus rebuild the shed (new base)
its looking so much better already.ive evan drew up a plan of what i want and where.
my wife didnt now what to get me for christmas so gave me a £100 garden centre voucher.
im off out on sunday morning to have a good spend up on my seeds canes ect.
              happy new year everyone!

A quick word of advice - (wish I'd done this myself!) take some 'before' pictures and post them up now- they are such a motivator when the going gets tough and you feel it is all a bit too much. We can empathise with the task ahead. And then we can all oooh and aaahhh at your magnificent efforts when we see before and after, side by side!

In fact I think there is a thread somewhere on Grapes allotments before and after ...

Yay - found it!!! (not hard, it is a sticky!)

                      Nice one!

Where abouts in Essex are you? Im near Colchester

I was lucky enough to get my first allotment last year. Its been hard work but so rewarding - and the before and after photos are a great idea and you should do it even if its just a few snaps! When we got our plot it was just a grassed area, no fencing etc and never dug. We can hardly believe it now when we look back at the photos and see how far we have come.

                      Enjoy!!

Apple Tree: Are you hinting my apples aren't what they ought to be?
Scarecrow: Oh, no. It's just that she doesn't like little green worms!
