Well I think at long last I'm getting somewhere with the allotment and I'm fairly sure now that I'll get a good season from it. I got the keys to the lottie after a 5 year wait in 20th Jan. Here's how it looked..........
After digging for what seemed to be months, 10 tonnes of couch grass roots and 35 painted scaffolding boards here we are today........
I've got 7 x 3.9m x1.3m beds , 2 x 12m x 0.75m beds, 1 x 10m x 0.9m beds and space for a couple more at the top once I've got my shed, greenhouse and compost bins sorted at the top end
Still masses to do before we are up and running but can see a light at the end of the tunnel at last.
I have been digging up rotted horse manure from a friends field but it's nearly killing me dragging it back across the field to put in my car. Could I use growmore pellets or blood fish and bone or chicken poo pellets for the rest of the beds for this season to get some nutrients into the sandy soil instead ? I can then add manure at the end of the season once my back has had a bit of rest. Goes this sound ok or will it not work ?
Thanks ever so much for your help
