  • Guess what??? I have Land!!!!!

i have land!!! I cant call it an allotment yet, although thats what it used to be. Theres a full half acre of it, HUUGGGEEE!!!

i got it thro landshare, rent free, its a large manor house' veg garden on the opposite side of road from the house, the owner currently keeps piggies on it, but has fences of a small strip on the side for her pigs and the rest is mine.

theres loads of fruit bushes, already in full fruit, raspberrys, black currants, lots of mini trees and the dreaded horse radish!!

very badly overgrown, i agreed to work a patch at a time rather than the lot at once. 5 yr agreement lease, and NO RENT, all she wants is a few taties here n there and a few eggs should i decide on hens..

now.. where do i start? im going down monday night to raid the fruit trees and take a load of photos. theres trees i will need identified with the help of you guys, i have free rein to design how i want, and pull out the trees that are no good (all small ones thank heavens lol)

The only veg i could see left in the undergrowth, are taties which she says have "self seeded"

    yipeee!!

half an acre is the equivalent of 8 full sized plots(300squ yards/250 squ metres) I think you may yet wish to share your land share

                      That sounds amazing!

Nice to hear that landshare sharers are still active (It seems most people on there are growers rather than sharers).

Yeah i have to say it IS big, we have agreed for her to open out her pig pen to cover the top half, until such a time i can use it, and just concentrate on growing the bottom half for now. then the pigs do the work of weeding it too!

my hubby is driven mad, he isnt a grower, but i wont stop talking plans! i have some baby leeks awaiting planting so first job is to clear a patch for those. im not sure if there is anything else i can plant in July?

I may be sharing it in time, lol, but at the moment, im jealous.. i dont wanna share it with anyone, give me a week or two of digging, i will probably change my mind LOL.

going back monday night, to take lots of photos and "make a plan" of where the trees are, and try to identify them, so i can decide whether they are staying or not.

                        i cant wait!!!

Bags of things can be sown/planted now

What to do now in your vegetable garden

The pigs will have worked the land, and fertiziled it great for you That said, i'm not sure if pig manure is "hot". At least, over winter they'd be able to re-work if it you opened it out again?
