Floppy veg from allotment

    With lettuce I pull the whole thing up and when I get home put the root part in a jug of water. I find the lettuce will stay fresh for days like that. You do need to change the water every day otherwise it can get a bit stinky and gloopy
    Same with any roots I wash them and then put them in a big bowl of water until I'm ready to use them - I try and only pick stuff for that day, but it's not always possible

      I totally do notice the difference in taste it just doesn't seem very good when all the veg goes floppy

      I will take note of all the suggestions and definately put into practice everything where possible

      And thanks TS i will try not to water part of the crop as much and do a test to see if it works
