  • bind weed

I know how hard it is to rid my plot of the dredded bind weed But can tou compost the foliage???

You could burn it and add the ash to the heap/etc - or perhaps tie it in a black binbag if you have enough and leave it to rot down for a year or so.

I've heard of drowing it too, but some may still be alive.

I don't know if it'll grow readily from just the foliage.. if you have a bit of stalk/stem attached to the leaf still. If you want to be safe, and not have to pull it all out again, burn it

I do - but I let the root part dry out and die before composting that bit. I also check over the compost and pull out any live roots which are clearly visible if the compost is nice and dark brown.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

When we took over our plot it was everywhere.. I used to pull/dig it up and drown it in a barrel of water... it not as bad now but we all get it in the hedges and cant do owt about it.
