  • Chicken Poo Plant Food?

I've got some chicken/duck poo + straw soaking in water (yes, it stinks!) as I was thinking that I could use this as a liquid feed...

Would you dilute this, so that it ends up as heavily tinted water, or go for the undiluted version (on the soil/plant roots)?

A lot depends on how much poo/straw to how much water at the moment.

About 3 B&Q buckets full of poo/straw, with about 1 bucket full of water (in a large trug)

Pooh!!!! I bet it stinks. Yes I think it would definitely need diluting. I think if it had been me instead of soaking it in water I would have stacked it all somewhere out of the way and left it to rot down.

I've already got 8 compost bins full of the stuff..... this was just an experiment to see if I could make a decent liquid food without having to buy any

I shall dilute it, and feed my toms with it!

Good luck. I would think dilute it to the colour of weak tea. It will probably be quite high in nitrogen I would think.

The smell isn't as bad as nettles/comfrey tea; it just smells VERY manure-y .....

I had a tub of chicken pellets on my plot last year. The lid was split, and as a result water got in. I didn't realise, and opened it up one afternoon and nearly fell on my @rse! The stench was like nothing I've experienced. I slooshed it over one of my not-being-used beds. The smell lasted days - folk would give my plot a wide birth when walking past.
