Raised beds - best frames to use?

Hi PV - those raised beds look FAB - what are you going to grow?

Hi all , iv made 4 good size raised beds out of the red and white road work barrier that my mate got us from work.
Its worked a treat but feel sorry for the o.a.ps falling down the holes

Ive just been given some old pallets from a neighbour to make a couple of small raised beds. I have got some lengths of fencing timber but someone told me that you cant use pressure treated wood or tanalised 'cause the stuff leaches into the soil. Does anybody know if this is right or not, I was going to have a go today at making them but might hold off a bit longer till I find out.

Hi all,

I built some raised beds at the bottom of my garden last year for my veggies - They're made from pressure treated softwood - Should be good for a few years.

The wood is around £11 for a 6"x2" 16' long plank - the timber yard cut them down for free to 6"x1" 8' lengths plus a few lengths of 2"x2" for the pegs to hold everything up and they delivered it too!

The whole lot cost about £50

The hardest bit was getting top-soil to fill them! - I've excavated the paths between the beds to get soil and back-filled with rubble - someone is gonna love me in years to come when they decide to change it all!
