  • I pick up the keys tomorrow!!!!!

I went and viewed the plots today and had a choice of 21 plots to choose from I have to go along and pay my money tomorrow morning and then I'm away Planning on going to the bike shop at the end of the road and seeing if they have any big boxes I can have to cover the plot and hope to have some onions and garlic sown by the end of this weekend

Congrats on getting your lottie, it must have been a difficult choice if you'd got that many to choose from.

It was hard to choose. All the plots were a blank canvas as they were newly created (kind of - they used to be plots many moons ago that went to waste when allotments went out of fashion) in the last month or so. In the end I went for one roughly in the middle, south facing, next to a stand pipe with good car access
On site there are toilets and, as I already mentioned, mains water (which gets switched off over winter). You are allowed sheds/greenhouses etc, bonfires within reason, fruit trees. It is a 5 Rod plot with a shared path with each neighbour. There is a drainage ditch at one end and the whole site is well maintained.

Now the only problem I have is where to place the beds

I have the keys Went up there this afternoon and did some weeding. Cleared about a quarter of it Have got some weed suppressant fabric which I am going to put down tomorrow and plant some spring cabbages through it. Then I can have a go at the next quarter and get in some onions and garlic

On the contrary, the waiting list in Eastbourne was over 360 so they campaigned to the council who made funds available to create new plots. I think in total they will be creating over 60 new plots on this site and then a whole load more on another site. It's nice to see that a council has responded positively and not tried to fob them off
