Just wondering, because despite being netted, my cabbages have been munched by caterpillars but the brussels in the same bed are untouched. Maybe they are just saving them for later.

If the caterpillars don't get them then the pigeons will. Netting is mandatory for me.

A lot of people on our site don't bother. I remember last year, cos my netting cages collapsed under the snow and there were others with rows and rows of un netted, untouched sprouts. Don't ask me why/how I have no idea as we do have pigeons. They will peck at the leaves and turn them into a shabby mess but I don't think they bother with the actual sprouts.

Sounds a good solution this ChrisM - might try it. Have built net cages around all my brassicas - well Mr VVG has - amounts to the same thing though.Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein
