  • Generator oil

Hi all, Slightly off topic this one but I have got hold of a generator which is great for the odd time I want to use some power tools down on my allotment.
The question being that I want to change the oil in it, and are wondering if Castrol GTX would be suitable? any petrol heads out there? it is a four stroke petrol engine on it.
    Thanks.

I would certainly have no worries about using it but for all the price of a litre of oil specifically packaged for the purpose, no need to take any risks.

The operating temperature range of that engine is not ideally suited to multi grade oils,SAE 30 is what should be used for that application

I would agree.............probably........SAE 30 is usually recommended for lawnmowers etc.

Another option would be to check the handbook or if you aint got one, google the type of machine and you'll probably be able to download the specs!
