How exciting.............. start things off in modules and you will be able to quickly fill gaps as they appear.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

2 square meters???? Are you planning on doing square foot gardening?

Tis small enough to cover over - (tis in reality the size of a large cold frame/cloche )at the start and end of the main growing season to give you another 3 or 4 weeks of growing season!

I'd get some radish in under cover asap- water with warm water before sowing- and leave a bottle of hot water in there overnight under fleece. That should give you a crop pretty soon!
( better still- as SS suggests- start them off indoors and transplant out)
You've got 8 weeks between now and the last frosts in which you can crop something!!!!

You can do both in the same bed The trailing squash leaves will cover the soil, cooling it, reducing evaporation of water, reducing weeds.

The beans make their own food by fixing nitrogen from the air.

Is it near where you live RB? Maybe this is your test plot and you'll be offered a bit more if you do well! I'm bouncing for you too!

Thanks all, will have to try and get organised asap!

The plots are teeny but will be quite productive I reckon, and I'm on the list for a second one if it comes up. There's also some scope for adding a couple of boards to extend to the fence so I could probably get away with making it a bit bigger too! Very nice to have one though - it's around a ten min walk and near the school and cafe, so dead handy!

What they said! I know plots are in high demand, but two square metres seems a bit stingy.
