We only started three years ago so were able to get email addresses from all our members. Makes communication sooooo much easier and cheaper... can email out a news update every couple of weeks or so and if something important's happening, like kids hanging up to no good during the school holidays, as secretary I can email out a warning very quickly.
We tried Facebook but not all members use it so you end up having to email anyway.
Also do a blog newsletter quarterly. So much better than email a standard newsletter since can include polls, links and video and members can comment back. I've included below two links, one to our Winter newsletter so you can see the format, and a link to a post on how to construct a newsletter blog.
Hope they help! John

John, your communication on here has been brilliant. The 'reveal' of the Harwood case and also how the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations apply has been immensely important not just to me with my problems up here but also to other South of the border who are experiencing problems.

Is anyone following NSALG's website suggestion to celebrate a National Allotment Week this year (any day during the week 6-12 August)?
For details see National Allotment Week Main
Evidently if you decide to hold something on your site and let NSALG know they put details on their website and send you a promotional pack to help with publicity.
The idea is make allotments very much part of local community life and awareness rather than something just a few do in the hope that when allotments are threatened with being sold off for building land more people in the community will object and try to defend them.....

Although I'm not yet a plot-holder, I have put my name down for one and did so online.
It's not a bad little website, quite basic but tells you what you need to know...Diggle Lane AllotmentsLast edited by Pa Snips; 13-04-2012, 04:00 PM.Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive
