  • Ideas for selling raising/selling plants for lottie funds

What it says on the tin really.

We have begun to raise plants to sell at the lottie shop; veggies, flowers, herbs. New modules (12s and 6s) and pots are being used to compare well with the 'sheds' and GCs and we do get a good deal on seeds and compost.

Some of us are sowing and raising seeds etc and some are giving greenhouse space to B&B trays of seedlings if they cannot offer much time.

We do get good passing trade so will make a larger board to go outside the 'shop' when we have more to sell.

I am looking for suggestions please. What to sow, what cuttings we could take from our gardens/plots, what is popular, have you any ideas that are unusual, what has worked well for you, what have we not thought of?

    Thanks
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but you aren't allowed to grow-to-sell on allotments ~ although you are permitted to sell "surplus" crops.

You could try selling as a private individual on eBay though

Oooh, thanks for the heads up on this. Where can I find 'evidence' of these regs so I can discuss it with the powers that be at the lottie?

I am sure we have lots of spares though.

      Thanks again................

No, you're OK Roadkill, they've backtracked after the outcry. Funny how they can when they want to. Where's my referendum eh!

A number of us are intending to sell surplus plants for fund raising at our Official Opening, but we are growing at home not at the site.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Just popped back to say I've chatted to the powers that be and I misunderstood the plan. Sowing seeds must have got me all excited.

We don't sell to the public, just to members. So all is well with the world again. Phew!

Will be potting on marjoram this weekend as it's running/seeding rampant all over my garden.

How about if you made your produce into the likes of Chutneys, Jams and Pickles. I don't suppose there'd be any problem selling them to the general public, but I could be wrong.

I think the regs are to do with running your own business from your lottie...... if things are sold to raise money for the lottie funds and the lottie funds are not making a profit (ie everything gets ploughed back in for the good of the site ) then it's a different issue.....
