There's lots of help on here about how to start your first allotment so have a mooch around and start planning!!
I have a feeling I will need all the help I can get. I thought I had a rough idea but reading through the forums I have realised I know nothing. Going to get all my tools this week so I can make a start on Saturday. If I can get anything to grow this year I will be shocked. I think there will be a lot of bed time reading over the next few weeks! Just need to buy the books.

What would you say the average age of people are on the allotments?

Woohoo! Get planting! Sorry just got a bit excited for you and started chucking all sorts of seed around for you. Nearly winter here so I'm suffering from not being able to grow too much for a few months now. If it' not in by now here, then it's not in.
sound very flash with buildings and all on your allotment. Ali

Some days it's hardly worth chewing through the restraints!

One bit of old folklore wisdom says to plant tomatoes when the soil is warm enough to sit on with bare buttocks. In surburban areas, use the back of your wrist. Jackie French

lol veggie chicken I'm a bit the same. Long in the tooth, and I don't have an allotment - 90 acres is too big to think about gardening so the thoughts of having a set amount of space is almost like heaven.
