I cut steps out of the slope - with a retaining bit of wood if necessary. Across the slope, I just cut an ascending track into the soil. I have to have these to access the steepest bits!
If you walk them often enough they stay reasonably clear.

      Morning!

We have had a few days off the plot due to lots of rain. On the upside, it looks like it drains quite nicely! The photo's I uploaded to here are not very good so I have put them on my facebook page and shared the link below.

Yes -the soil really is that red!
Because we can not walk at the lower end of the plot (dry stone wall) we will need access along the top of it. But because we have rock now in the way, stones/ slabes or cutting steps out are not an option now. We have placed stakes along the edge of the bedrock (you can see this in the photos) and are thinking about putting a board up on the higher part of it, and then building up the earth around it to make a flat-ish path. Hopefully it will work!

Also, been thinking about beans. Has anyone got an example of a homemade bean trellis? I would like to make a screen at the back to save space. There are not many examples on the web I can see.

      Merci!

Someone on our plot made some pretty bean trellis ... Let me see if I have a photo of it somewhere as it's a bit wet to go outside!

Might not be very good photo though

Another one. Again not really of them.
This is from last April when I'd not long started digging the plot for the first time.
