But she warned WDC still cannot get insurance for the site - including from the tenants’ suggested National Society of Allotment & Leisure Gardeners - and ruled out the “extremely costly” remediation option, quoted at almost £1m.
It's a contamination scare - Bassetsbury Allotment site, which was closed in mid-February due to a contamination scare, has been earmarked for development for some time, with the possibility of accommodating 50 houses.

The question is, if they can't decontaminate it for growing on but can for houses, how much would 50 houses have to be worth to add in an extra £1m of costs?
