I had a load (not sure how much a 'load' is in weight, but it filled the back of a medium-size tipper truck) of composted manure delivered to my allotment at Easter. I have since been using it to fill some newly-built raised beds, and spread it on top of the open soil area of the plot, which I had recently rotovated & weeded.
Yes, I KNOW I should have done all this in the autumn, but there we go - I am operating on a better late than never policy here. The soil on the plot is very dry and chalky, so there's very little nutriment in there otherwise.
However, I know have a lot of very 'cloddy' stuff sitting on top of both the raised beds and the open soil. Should I rotovate again to 'dig it in'? should I add topsoil?
Any thoughts?
