      Good luck!!
I'm just thinking that there won't be that many plots that do look good thanks to unlimited rain, hail, wind and slugs.....so you'll be fine

Make sure you have a good plot number sign - mine is made of an old trowel fixed to a short stake. Lovingly painted with the number 12 by my late oh
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

As my No is 10N, a trowel may not be big enough but I do have an old spade...........

As I have only entered for best newcomer do you think they will also want the varieties on the labels?.......I hope not, but I'm a good guesser if they do.........

Would it hurt to put them on?

I'm not sure whether I am allowed to say names but a seed company beginning with S has a free garden planning tool for two months, after which time you can let it rot. It has SFG on it. May be too late for you now, I don't know.

It wouldn't hurt if I knew them which I know most, I just wondered if they may expect it.

Aha I see, what do the rules state? Is there a website? Is it wrong of me to say if you don't know, then make it up?

How large are your labels - or, how small is your writing? What about generic labels (lettuce, winter cabbage etc) and a master plan or list that could be available somewhere (?on the shed door?).
There must be someone on here who knows about judging allotments and can advise?

Found this Competition judging criteria: Allotment gardens: Calderdale Council
Labels showing variety / maturity / cropping time: 5 marks
Note : Labels showing variety: it will make the judge's life easier when assessing seasonal produce.

I'd go with wooden labels from Wilko and a chalk pen from Staples - they do a pack of coloured chalk ones, and just go round putting what you think the variety is on each label.

All they want to know is what is what.

Well done though - you are quite brave IMHO!

I haven't seen his lettuces, Bren, but from the photos of the plot you put up earlier you should do very well, BM. Good luck.

Perhaps they could give some pointers?????
