Been down the allotment today and still too soggy to get anything done and the weird weather has bolted my red cabbage's so that's a shame.
Going to bite the bullet and buy a cheapo £39 walk in greenhouse from wilko's just so I can get things started as last year showed I was woefully lacking space to start off seedlings and harden them off. First things first will be get onions into root trainers I have Setten, Red Baron and Bedfordshire champion sets.

Spent first day back at allotments today and time is going to be much, much tighter this year owing to my wife's work moving her start time back to 4.30pm from 5pm meaning I can't stop off on the way home from work anymore as we have our son to look after and only one car. I decided to take a leaf out of my plot neighbours book, so instead of digging up all the weeds and painstakingly removing all remnants of them etc and then leaving bare soil I am just turning the ground and burying them. He does it and has wonderful big crops, and I could never understand how as he has such a lot of weeds as well but lovely big crops living side by side. This may well end up being a mistake but I have nothing to lose as my Manure shipment that was ordered in November hasn't arrived because the farms Manure pile is flooded and could still be weeks away and with my limited time I need to do what I can when I can.
Today I mixed in the last of the bedding/manure material I had last year I kept in bags to rot down and put in 3 rows of garlic (poundland generic variety) and I have 3 x 300g bags of onions sets to put in 'Sturon', 'Red Baron' and 'Stuttgarter' tomorrow along with 3 varieties of broad beans to try 'Sutton', 'Dreadnaught' and 'Crimson flowered'
