How do I get an allotment?

Hi there. I would like to request an allotment from the council on the wirral. How would I go about applying?

Also right next to where I live is a massive space of open and weed infested unused land. Can I request it be turned into an allotment?

You'd need to know who used it and show that there are lots of local people who'd want allotments.
Do a petition door to door to get people to sign to ask for the land to be used as allotments/community garden, and to get people to sign a separate list about wanting an allotment.

You only need 6 technically but if you can get loads and loads then it puts more pressure on the council.

Don't forget to check out the local waiting list times though.

Be prepared for a long haul either way though. The wheels of councils don't work fast.

I went and looked at the allotment near mine. Looks very nice. I hope room opens up soon as I want one!
