I don't know what they are TBH and I haven't got any pics... All I know is that they seem quite innocuous but grow quicker than the speed of sound. One of my plot neighbours reckons it's what the farmers sow after they harvest, so maybe they are a green manure? I'm struggling to keep up with them, that's all I know They really do grow very very quickly!

How do you hoe leeks that have weeds coming out from their hole then?
If it was as easy as just a quick hoe run down the channels then that would be fine.... I'm having to weed mostly by hand every few days!My new website for allotment beginners www.theallotmentshed.co.uk

I'm thinking of turning this thread into a blog. I've never done one before but it seems to me that this is what this thread anyway.
Well should I or not?

I'm in the process now... No idea how/what do it but I'll have a go! I have set up an account and started with my story from the start... I just hope that I can keep it interesting, not too long but making sure that newbies will find my story useful to them.. It also saves me from posting anymore to this thread, making it look like a "look at me" thing.
I think I'm gonna enjoy this, it looks like fun and will always remind me of my new found brilliant hobby from the start!
Cheers

I can't access my blog to edit it. No idea why! Can anyone advise?
Anyway, in the meantime I'll post a few pics of the plot here as it's getting towards our "fresh" seasons haha.
Bottom bed. I have a nice patch of green manure growing away and almost ready to dig in.
Middle left bed. The tarpaulin is covering a rain soaked bed of mixed horse/cow muck that will break down over winter.
Middle right bed. A newly dug bed planted with red and white overwinter onions. I have added chicken manure pellets and blood, fish and bone to this.
Top left bed. A few bits still growing there including leeks, Lettuce, carrots and beetroot. approx 10kg of potatoes harvested last weekend.
Top right bed. Brassicas under netting. Mini polytunnel, garlic planted last Sunday that has already sprouted through the soil surface. I think that my cabbages are going to be ready before Christmas, they are hearting up already!
Against the fence I put in some raspberry canes a few weeks ago that died right back and are now showing some fresh growth! Should this be happening?
A couple more piccies from a different angle:
Thanks
