Thank you everyone, I've really let my plot go to pieces this year with just a few areas that I could plant in (stuff happening, you know how it is). Anyway, I was beginning to feel really disheartened and had given up. After reading through this, I am going to "get back on the horse" and try and tidy some bits and plant a few more things so, thank you.

you are not alone, even my OH who is not into gardening felt very disheartened for me last week. We've taken a deep breath and have decided to harvest and enjoy what we can get off the plot and then come the autumn reasess the space and how best to deal with the problem areas. I'vestarted growing a fair bit of veg at home so have decided to grow a lot more fruit at the lottie, i'm planning on planting a lot of fruit through membrane to help keep the weeds down.
Its been a bad year but i really don't want give up just want to make it more 'user friendly' and tidy

The Aussie Gardener Jackie French says that your plan for your garden should be so you can enjoy it otherwise it is just another job to get done and it won't last. I agree. Grow the things you like, make it as easy as you can, and have a seat to sit on and enjoy looking at it and soaking up the rays when they happen and enjoy the accomplishment. I was just looking at my house yard and thinking how nice it would look if it was mowed. Mower is broken so I just imagined it mowed lol. You're not the only ones who have let things get out of hand this year.
