Well, after a day's hard graft by me and my stepdad we are nearly ready to actually get some plants in at my plot!
We cleared and rotivated the middle of the plot last weekend and got the frames of a couple of beds ready, so this weekend it was time to fill them.
I decided to use a no-dig method for the first, and after removing as much cooch grass root from the soil as possible I levelled it and covered the base with cardboard.
This was followed by a thick layer of manure (yes, I am still moving it off the path where it was dumped)
This was followed by a top layer of 3" of compost
