    New Allotment !!!

    Hi guys, going to view an allotment I've been offered tomorrow.

    Its a half plot that measures 300sq ft, not sure why but the sizes on the site I've chosen seem to be huge.

    Been offered two plots but think im going for this one from previous advice, its in the middle of already taken plots, whereas the other is surrounded by vacant badly overgrown.

    Hope to benefit from the wisdom you guys will be able to impart.

    Welcome Matt - hope you like the plot you see today.
    I don't have an allotment, but not being surrounded by overgrown areas sounds sensible.
    Altho I think I'd want to check out the neighbours before I made a decision. Seems like there's
    loads of lovely allotmenteers around, and a few not so nice ones.

      Welcome to the vine & good luck with your new plot. Not sure of the maths but my half plot is 30'x30'.

          Hi Matt. Welcome. One of the things that would be high on my list of things to check out would be where the nearest tap is. Whether you can use a hose or have to carry water, on a hot evening it would make a big difference.
          Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

              Hi Matt welcome to the looney bin...

              Good luck with your choice but make sure that you prioritise what the main requirements are for you. As said earlier water supply, access and what's around the plot. Is there likely to be any vandalism? If so, then try to get a plot that's central to the allotment. Any trees? That may block the sun. Drainage? Don't take a plot that's at the bottom of a slope. Try to choose a plot that are next to plots that are in good order if possible.
