I normally dont catch them in the act, and just notice a totally bare bush with all the fruit just hanging there but this time I was lucky to see it in the process of happening.
I am going to transplant this bush to the plot later on this year when it goes dormant, and when I have a bed ready for it in the hope that the sawflies wont be able to find it next year - the ones already on the plot are fine.
I must remember to really check the soil below the bush before I transplant it to make sure that I don't transplant the eggs or larvae with it.

All looking great Andy. I'm going to borrow your idea of the green archway for my plot next year, it looks really well. Like you, I've got self-seeded squash, in my case they're butternut squashes which probably survived in my home compost heap. I don't have the heart to pull them out though.
I think your runner beans are ready for picking, as far as I know they're meant to stay pretty flat.

Thanks WPG
Feel free to pinch any of my ideas - after all, I pinched the green arch idea from Alys Fowler!
I have harvested plenty of my beans now - I was just leaving them on for our open day on the 3rd.
