How can you stop condensation/rust on car tools?

Hi,
The other day it was cold here. I noticed some of my car tools such as CR-V sockets were all wet due to the humanity of the weather. After a few days later I noticed rust on them! What can be done to preserve tools from rusting besides putting them inside the house which I cannot do. They are in the garage which happens to be cold.

when you finish working with them, give them a spray with wd40 or similar and then a wipe with a clean rag. Bundles of spanners and sockets can also be wrapped in oily rags. Maybe even consider putting your tool box in a sealed bin liner or similar with some of the dessicant pellets that are used for dehumidisation.

I've read that garden tools can be dug into a bucket of sand and oil - which should coat them to keep them from rusting... Not sure how practical that is for delicate stuff... but the big stuff will benefit.
WD40 spray on stuff is easy to use for fiddly stuff.

My dad's garage is constantly damp and cold - in part due to the dodgy tin roof covering part of it. Hardly anything rusty in there - but then most of his spanners and such are stainless steel. Odd that they should be rusting.

Everything in my dad's garage is oily/greasy though...

hmmm just realised there may not be such a word as dehumidisation. I should perhaps have simply said for dehumidifying.
