I'd be FURIOUS if it were my fruit. I would also put up a large 'No Trespass' sign, and another that says something along the lines of 'If I find out who is stealing my produce, I will not hesitate to prosecute.' Or, 'Thank you for stealing the food from my children's plates!'

I would also inform the Committee, loudly, that it is inexcusable, and you are very very unhappy.

Then I would calm down, outwardly, but seethe inwardly. Check out CCTV camera kits on fleabay, they could be worth it.

I think you may have mice. You may need to put a LOT of mousetraps around your loveliest crops

Our gooseberries vanished this year. Other plot holders have lost squash and pumpkins and other stuff. At least one of the thiefs we have is interesting though, a flock of parrots!

I have just ordered a 12volt one channel cctv digital video recorder that uses an sd card, so I can put a camera up at my allotment. The recorder will be hidden in the shed and the night vision camera will be mounted covertly...

I'm no expert but I believe you legally have to put a sign up if you have CCTV? Which is no bad thing - the sign itself is a deterent.

Here's another slant on the chemicals or humanure.

Put up a clear sign that states - Some crops on this allotment are treated with humanure for research purposes. Please treat your hands and footwear on leaving the site.

That way they wonder 'which bluddy ones!'
And also............what's on my hands and feet
                  What sort of treatment
Of course, if they wiped the mud off their shoes and washed their hands that would be treatment wouldn't it?

It won't bring your apples back, but I must admit to being mean enough to hope that they feel quite sick at the thought of eating them!

Ok well that put's paid to youtubing the CCTV then! D@mn.

If you show it to the police does it still constitute a 'private purpose?'

The police might ummm and arr about it but they have accepted our cctv footage of some lads throwing fireworks and issued penalty notices to them because of it.

Do you need a power source for it?

Yes it needs a 12volt battery, an old motorbike or alarm box battery is perfect for the job.
