My compost heaps are placed on top of plastic sheeting on a slight slope and compo fluid fills a bowl which is emptied into a barrel. The barrel contains comfrey, parenial weeds, water and green manure cuttings. The resultant drained fluid is strained/filtered thro an old engine air filter so it flows easier thro watering can. I use this as a liquid feed and as a deterant to White Fly on me Brassicas, acts as a folier feed too.
All veg waste after 4 months is placed on compost heap as the parenial weeds are dead and waterlogged.
We also have a 1m diameter plastic drain set on plastic sheet, with pure manure in it, as it rains the fluid drips into a bowl set in the ground. The resultant fluid is added to the compost fluid and diluted for use.
When used as a folier feed on brasicas, the Cabbage white Butterfly will not land, re-aply after heavy rain.
