Which mulch should I use around my fruit bushes?

I usually mulch with damp newspapers covered with a thick pile of manure, but haven't got access to any manure this year. I have home made compost, some leafmould which is about a year old, and some woodchips left over from making paths. Which of these would be best to use on top of the newspaper around my currant and gooseberry bushes, raspberry canes and apple trees?

I'd use the leafmould in a seed compost mix and the chippings round your bushes.
