Does he sell turnip seed?


Could you use shredded turnip as a mulch to ward it away? Or stake them at intervals around the plot to ward it off?

Soooo funny We are supposed to have a guy coming to look at a plot today and have been asked to show him the plot. I suggested the area that was full of brambles however I've been told he can't have it because it has been partially cleared which is total rubbish I think the garden club are earmarking it for themselves or a friend. the area they are offering is a total mess and has 3 trees that will be a pain their is another plot I said I would show him however the rent has been paid on it but not been touched for over 5 years so it may be a temp plot until we find out what the rent payer is planning to do...

I have an innate distrust of couch weed but drowning is meant to be effective.... Personally id give it at least 6 months underwater, preferably light excluded and guarded with flamethrowers.
Some people think I am paranoid but they haven't dug up 20 wheelbarrows worth of the sodding stuff!

As long as it is killed first you can compost it. I prefer to get rid to be on the safe side, if not on the plot it can't come back. I might be loosing out on some good compost but I can live with that.

How much soil do you lose or do you wash that all off before you throw stuff away?

Another bucket load of the stuff this morning well it is in the drowning bin lid on if it is still alive by the end of the year ill empty it out and bag it all up.

Also moved a pear tree and cherry tree that was planted to close to an apple and a plum tree I know it was a risky move but I put lots of compost and watered well.

Well I've done, mucked, weeded and sown seeds.
Have used my collar cloches and Nic's made me some cloches out of some of the polycarbonate.

Can't say I have thought about that, I do take most of the soil off first but I will be loosing some. After all the work I have had to do to get rid of them don't think I would want to risk them coming back, particularly as only a small strip left to clear.

I have loads of this and bilndweed at the top part of my pl,ot as it backs onto the old part of the weed field. Over the last few days Ive been digging over it and omg ever fork I got out all I could hear was ripping roots!! I spent ages going though the soil by hand trying to get rid of as much root as possable!!

I have came up with a idea of using plastic planks things Ive saved last year. Diging a spade depth into the soil and putting them into the soil and then replacing the soil again going though it incase I missed anything!! It doesnt look pretty i hope it slows it down from joining back onto the main plot.

You need to stop the stuff seeding as well. Does the stuff in the field get mown down, or is it allowed to set seed?


PS. the digging would be easier if you can cover the weed for several months first. No light will considerably weaken the stuff, making it easier to remove

Two Sheds yes kind of I don't know the corret name for the material. I will be strimming any bits down untill I can get some weed fablic to cover it all. I have re dugged it today and pulled out a handfull of both.
