  • Brassica and bean rotation with the addition of sulpha to the soil

Hi believe brassicas do well when rotated into the plot following beans. I also believe that they do well in soil that has previous been treated with lime but dont like it to be added in the same year in fear of burning the roots. Does this mean that i can apply lime to my bed intended for beans in the same years they are being planted which will suit the brassicas the following year?

    Please help

    Darren

Probably not... it begins with S and its something Brassicas like and preferably the year after beans have had it added.

          Ok. Right.

Nitrogen? Lime? Or do you mean using sulphur to change the pH?

no defo lime. remember the lady in the garden center telling me but not to add it in the same year... then i read that beans like it when treated to follow that bed the following year with brassicas because doing it same year burns the roots

I typed that as you were typing your last response.

What's the pH of your soil currently?
