Our site has an 8 foot security fence around it, heavy duty high gates and a good quality lock and we still get very regular thefts.
The problem is that it is not so much missing tools but the damage done looking to see if you have anything.

The weak point is that everybody has a key, and we have a high turnover of new allotment holders how in the main start and then never return. Or do they

Personally I think our problem is with one or two tenants who seem to turn up at odd times, do no apparent work on their plots but always seem to go home with bags of stuff.

We do get PCSOs visiting but on a 150+ plts iste, quite how they are supposed to know who is acting legitimately or not, I don't know. Little else the council can do.

The thieves I can almost cope with but I must have upset someone as they like to have their little laughs at times. I had spend hours washing up hundreds of 3" pots, sorted them into sizes and placed into a shed, all disappeared.

My Blackberry plant, sprayed with weed killer.

Every last strawberry picked, even the small green ones.

    Runner beans stripped

On my potting bench, I left halway through potting up plants, came back next day, everything tipped out and pots and trays stacked up.

Too many instances to write about, lucky I'm an obstinate old ***

I used to say, "I'd love to catch them in the act", but no I don't think I would actually, I would be in far more trouble than them.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

New key time? Although horribly expensive unless perhaps you swapped with another allotment the other end of the country?

Well the Bar Stewards have struck again............I Received an email from HM last night saying the tool store had been broken into & all the power tools stolen, Rotorvators, Mowers, Strimmers plus more I am assuming. All of this after a wrought iron gate & CCTV installed. Maybe HM will post more details.

I know they had some markings on but whether they were engraved or just pen, I don't know.

Sorry you've been targetted again BM/HM Anything on the CCTV that might help identify these parasites?

Its just NOT on and very upsetting. Sorry to hear about the theft BigMally.

Its so disheartening. My ex husband used to have all his work tools pinched out of his van regularly. I think he removes everything every evening and puts it back every morning now but when he is working away he sometimes has to park a little away from where he is working and his stuff is often pinched then too.
Some people have no moral values and its a shame that people who do are often the targets.

I haven't been robbed, well, no any tools, but plants. Obviously, is someone else from other plot. All my tomatillos, cardoon or more unusual plants were stolen from the polytunnel. I was -and still I am- very upset because I am always giving seeds to everyone and if the person had asked me, I'd have give him or her seeds.

Understand on our plots that it is usually children who get in and very rarely take anything but the police advised postcoding all equipment left to help prevent it being sold at carboot sales.

That's disgusting! I haven't noticed anything yet but I don't leave anything on my plot apart from a hosepipe but even now I'm thinking of digging a hole and covering in tarp nothing is sacred anymore,
