I spent the whole of Saturday digging out a path at the allotment that was covered in couch grass, dandelions, buttercups and docks. Now its totally weed free bare earth, and i'm wondering what would be the best way (if any) to cover it? I pulled out the edging from the beds (those little half logs joined with wire - slug hotel!) so at the moment i have slightly raised but unedged beds, and i'm not planning on putting new edging in. Weed membrane covered with woodchip? Any thoughts?

I'm rather liking cardboard on mine at the mo to keep the weeds I have killed/removed looking that way while I work on the beds. I'm also rather hoping for a brushwood cutter with a choice of blades for my birthday (might have to be a self present though). A strimmer would be easier to lug over the wall."A life lived in fear is a life half lived."
PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!
