Hi Guys!
Just a quick question to one and all, what follow on crops to plant this season for later season / winter harvesting / overwintering do you favour planting in the beds vacated by your spuds?
We've 3 beds of spuds on plot2, all of which are 4'6" by 14'6", one bed of first earlies, one of early main and one of maincrop, and are wondering what to plant in these beds after the spuds have been harvested! I have already planned to use the one bed vacated by the first earlies for our leeks, but what about the other 2 beds? Is there a crop that we can plant later that will use the space productively after the spuds have come out, or is it best to leave those beds fallow and plant them up later with either overwintering onion sets or garlic, or overwintering broad beans such as acquadulce?
I want to make every bed as productive as possible for as much of the year as we can, and hate the thought of a bed being empty with nothing growing!
Any suggestions, hints or tips appreciated!
