  • Mulching - Guinea Pig waste?

    Hi Everyone,

Maybe a weird question but I'm thinking this could be a recycling dream. My new allotment is looking great but after finding out people mulch with straw, I was wondering if I could mulch with my guinea pig waste every other day I'm throwing out hay, cardboard cuttings and of course guinea pig waste - which could be used for the soil this is my thinking.

I'm wondering if I could use this in my allotment for mulching, it would most definitely please the whole family and leave our bin a lot emptier!

might have seeds left in it but I don't see why you shouldn't use it,I know it composts well, as do rabbit waste and the stuff I take out of my deep litter bed in the chicken house,my only concern is it may be too strong if not composted first

I use it regularly. Try to keep the pig food out though as it attracts the rats!

Try this, compost the wet stuff and then use the dry stuff for mulching. Thats what I do with the rabbit bedding.

I used it as a mulch once, and the next year that bed was absolutely smothered in chickweed. I don't think they digest seeds, it just passes through them.
Now I compost their bedding before it goes on the beds
